This one proves there is hope for the human race &#8211; caught totally off guard, this crowd was given the gift of &#8216;joy&#8217; for a few minutes that I am sure made their day, week and in some cases their MONTH. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Below is a quick chart that a lot of people can relate to. I call it the <strong>Then and Now Chart</strong>. It&#8217;s not meant to be a value judgment, just a realisation some people have about some of the disappointments they have.</p>
<p>Someone very wise drew this for me in my early twenties (and I can&#8217;t for the life of me remember who it was&#8230;). I&#8217;ve quite a few really good mentors and I didn&#8217;t note who said what &#8211; I just committed WHAT they ALL said to memory&#8230;</p>

<p>But here&#8217;s the thing&#8230;</p>
<p><span id="more-453"></span></p>
<p>What my mentor told me is that IF you think ahead (something I now call 20/20 foresight, all you need to do is KNOW where you want to be THEN and <em>plan for it NOW</em>.</p>
<p>I know this sounds complicated, but I&#8217;ll give you a very specific example. When I took a sabbatical to finish my doctorate degree, I decided to go work for a company that I selected according to a 20+ point &#8216;checklist&#8217;&#8230; One of the conditions I set for myself was that I would be there for 3 years and once I attained my financial <span style="text-decoration: underline;">and</span> personal goals, I would leave.</p>
<p>It took 3 1/2 years instead of 3, but by the time I left, I had:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Acquired a post-graduate law degree</strong>, an intellectual indulgence that was a &#8216;reward&#8217; I wanted to give myself if you can believe that. I love learning and love the structured academic environment that forces you to learn things you otherwise never discover on your own &#8211; like jurisprudence, the rule of law and its role in the formation and management of society &#8211; the Australian Constitution&#8230; I could go on&#8230;</li>
<li><strong>I acquired a corporate governance diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). </strong>This was an accreditation I wanted to bolster my CV and my skill set to determine if I wanted to serve on company boards. I tried it and realised it&#8217;s a bureaucracy and &#8216;agency&#8217; relationship I don&#8217;t enjoy.</li>
<li>I got fit, lost 10 kilos transforming from a casual to an <strong>elite athlete</strong> winning not one, but two squash tournaments out of the first three I entered.</li>
<li><strong>I expanded my understanding of databases, IT integration, health informatics systems, object oriented and relational database programming</strong> as well as web services, XML and a whole bunch of other three letter acronyms (TLAs!).</li>
<li>I was <strong>sponsored by an employer to become a Permanent Resident of Australia</strong> and intend to become a Citizen very soon.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What&#8217;s the point?</strong></p>
<p>I set out to achieve ALL those outcomes BEFORE I ever applied for a job. I knew THEN what I would want &#8216;NOW&#8217; 3 years later. I made a pact with myself that I would not &#8216;sell myself short&#8217; for a job. That wasn&#8217;t the outcome I wanted.</p>
<p>With 20/20 foresight it&#8217;s easier to PLAN FOR SUCCESS than it is to look back with regret.</p>
<p>I am not saying YOU have regrets &#8211; what I am saying is that some people do end up where they don&#8217;t want to be and for many, the ONLY reason is because they never set out to be anywhere or anything else.</p>
<p><strong>They &#8216;evolved by default&#8217; rather than &#8216;revolutionise themselves<em> by design</em>&#8216;.</strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s easy to hit a target you can see and KNOW what it looks like&#8230;</p>
<p>Nearly impossible when you don&#8217;t know WHERE it is or WHAT it looks like.</p>

It amazes me how many different ideas people can come up with to challenge the status quo. Today&#8217;s picture is another example of thinking outside the square by manipulating a photo to make a &#8216;joke&#8217;.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.AntiMimeticIsoMorphism.com">Antimimeticisomorphism</a> is all about having a different perspective, prism or viewpoint on things to stimulate people&#8217;s interest and move them to action. We are bombarded with messages on a daily basis which means for YOUR message to get through the clutter, you have to come up with something original and different.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I recently read a book called Venn That Tune &#8211; It&#8217;s referenced in my <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/marcdussault">Linked In Profile</a>. It&#8217;s a unique lateral thinking concept that as a &#8216;hyper visual&#8217; really hits home for me excuse the kinesthetic pun! That being said, (there I go again with an auditory reference&#8230;!) today&#8217;s post is an example of how you can describe complex ideas in very simple logic diagrams called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venn_Diagram">Venn Diagrams</a>. It&#8217;s very <a href="http://www.AntiMimeticIsoMorphism.com">antimimeticisomorphic</a>!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This is a really tough distinction to explain.</p>
<p>The statistics are shocking. Only 7% of the population knows the <strong>OUTCOME</strong> they are trying to achieve, leaving a whopping 93% partially or totally clueless.</p>
<p>Add to that the confusion between the <strong>OUTCOME</strong> and the <strong>REWARD</strong>.</p>
<p>Recently, I had a conversation with an Internet Marketing enthusiast who when I asked what his <strong>OUTCOME</strong> was, responded &#8220;I want to drive a BMW and fly Business Class&#8221;.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s the <strong>REWARD</strong> of the <strong>OUTCOME</strong>, NOT the <strong>OUTCOME</strong> he needs to aim for.</p>
<blockquote><p>The <strong>OUTCOME</strong> is what you want to achieve, the <strong>REWARD</strong> is what you end up with <em>ONCE</em> you have achieved it.</p></blockquote>
<p>That&#8217;s a big part of the problem people have &#8211; they are focused on the wrong target.</p>
<p>There is no question that focusing on the BMW is motivational, but the <strong>REWARD</strong> would be a 7 or 8 series instead of a 3 series IF focus actually shifted to the <strong>OUTCOME</strong> that leads to the <strong>REWARD</strong>.</p>
<p>For my squash competition, the <strong>OUTCOME</strong> is for me to play my best and the <strong>REWARD</strong> is to win games.</p>
<p>In business, I have the <strong>OUTCOME</strong> to create MORE THAN $20 MILLION in value for my clients and the <strong>REWARD</strong> will be the profits I take home AFTER my clients have been served and paid me.</p>
<p>Can you see how I wake up in the morning with a completely different mindset?</p>
<p>If your focus is on the <strong>REWARD</strong> &#8211; you&#8217;re trying to make as much money as you can and your brain gets confused rather than clear.</p>
<p>You could be confusing your suspects and prospects by offering &#8220;Personal training products for 400 pound elite athletes who need to lose weight.&#8221;</p>
<p>If you had clarity of <strong>OUTCOME</strong>, you&#8217;d have focus and you&#8217;d go full-on with an approach that could be directed toward</p>
<ul>
<li> <strong>Elite</strong> <strong>athletes</strong> who are looking for that ONE strategy, tip or technique that can improve their performance by 3, 4 or 5% because they know it would be enough to win more points, games, matches or competitions.</li>
</ul>
<p>OR</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>The</strong> <strong>general</strong> <strong>public</strong> who is overweight, but NOT obese, needing and WANTING to lose 20 to 30 pounds within the next 2-3 months without medical supervision and without resorting to short-term &#8216;crash diets&#8217; but rather creating long-term health habits that become permanent.</li>
</ul>
<p>I am sure you&#8217;ll agree that either one of these strategies can work to give you the <strong>REWARD</strong> &#8211; the issue is that the <strong>OUTCOMES</strong> are completely different even though the <strong>REWARD</strong> is essentially the same!</p>
<p>Yeah I know it&#8217;s a <strong>&#8220;conundrum and dilemma wrapped up in a paradox.&#8221;</strong></p>

<p>If you are focused on your <strong>REWARD</strong> &#8211; the client has no place in your mind &#8211; NONE.</p>
<p>That is one of the reasons you&#8217;re not succeeding as much or as quickly as you would like.</p>
