I recently released part two of my 1 percent improvement concept, you can view it below. As I edited this YouTube video, I realised that there is a part three that is so fundamental that I need to insert it in here until I record the third instalment of the series

Unfortunately, when I talk about 1 percent improvement, some people think it’s about ‘doing stuff’, but that’s not really the point. We all ‘do stuff’ every day. 1 percent improvement is about IMPROVING something every day. Like these examples…

Examples of 1 percent improvement:

A colleague sent me a scanned image of a Yellow Pages ad today, labeled img000456.jpg. By NOT labeling the file “YellowPageAd2008.jpg” [or something similar] he’s going to potentially have trouble finding it in 1, 2, 3 or 5 years from now. If he labeled THAT file and from NOW ON labels ALL his scanned images with searchable text words, THAT would be his 1% for today.

I have people contribute content for my blogs that I then edit and publish. I instructed one of the contributors to place the blog post text directly in WordPress and just not publish it so that we could eliminate at least one e-mail correspondence since I check my blogs on a daily basis. I know it’s just one e-mail, but if I can save myself 10 e-mails a day, that’s easily 5 to 10 minutes/day = 1 hour saved per week. It’s all about improving something, 1% at a time.

I teach our Platinum Members how to write Killer copy for their ads, e-mails, brochures via a one-day workshop as part of the Killer Kopywriting System™ that I developed. One of the 1% strategies I teach them is to use each e-mail subject line as a KILLER HEADLINE, which gives them DOZENS of opportunities/day to PRACTICE and hone their craft. Less than a handful still do it. How do I know? I know when they send me e-mails… It’s one of my 1% improvement mechanisms I created to KNOW with no effort if they are doing it!

So there you have it – it’s not about ‘doing stuff’, but IMPROVING the stuff that you are doing, 1 percent at a time. When you give it time to compound, you’ll be amazed at how EFFORTLESS it is to create results that astonish and amaze others…

Onward and upward!
Marc
